Page 1 of 3 HISTORY 'Save The Children' Club (STC) was founded out of a great need in the inner-city of Nassau Bahamas to assist children considered to be high risk and dysfunctional.
The club has a full-time Director, staff members and a number of committed volunteers. STC is a youth club that focuses on the needs of children and teenagers. As a result of numerous single parent families where mothers raise children without the father in the home, various social problems have evolved with the children being affected by a number of negative activities. STC was organized to impact children ages 5-19 and was established in 1991 by Great Commission Ministries. Most of the members come from hurting families. The children are involved in weekly recreational, sporting and cultural events. The club originally met in Bain Town, Englerston and Black Village. In 1997 STC moved to its present location at 16 Wulff Road. Hundreds of children from the inner-city and throughout New Providence have been assisted through the services provided by 'Save the Children' Club. In order to more effectively reach out to the children the following services were developed: An After-school Programme, a Computer Lab, a Youth Recreational Centre, a marching band and counseling and community service for delinquent students and court assigned youths. Activities are held daily to train and equip the children and teens.
